RE: the continuing problem of engine oil. As of June 1, nearly all anti-wear additives have been removed from oil. This includes but is not limited to ZDDP, etc. That means that you cannot use the new batch of oil in the older cars without running the risk of serious engine damage. The only oil that I have found so far that still has the anti-wear additives is Valvoline racing oil. It comes in a number of weights such as 30, 40, 50, 10W-30, etc. In fact on the bottle it states that is does contain ZDDP, and exceeds all known standards for gasoline and diesel engines. There may be other brands as well. I have never been a fan of Valvoline oil, but I tried it out in my 1964 Corvette with a high performance engine, and found that it does not thin out when hot like many other oils can. So far I think this is one of the solutions. Will keep you posted.
