If she decides not to keep it donate it to the ACD Museum. Would be a neat little artifact for their display cases!

The race has been run, and the Speedster did well! She finished near the top on the track, getting eliminated in the 8th round out of ten rounds. It really came on strong just before the finish line, some times passing cars just before the stripe. The Auburn really looked great going down the track, it was so fun to watch.
In the judging, she took first place! I think the timeless lines of the speedster are pretty tough to beat.
Thanks for all the support fellow ADC lovers!

The axels are all polished, the wheels are trued up and lubed, it weighs 5.00 ounces. Tonight is the practice, time will tell how it runs!
The Auburn design is such a classic beauty!

Looks like your daughter Tess, might have a future of an automobile designer in her future. Let us now how the Auburn 'performs' in the race.
CORDially,

1) Add weights right up to the legal limit.
2) Put your axles (nails) into a high speed drill and polish them with emery cloth
3) Adjust one wheel where it is very slightly off the ground. Pinewood derby cars run faster on three wheels.
4) Sand your plastic wheels outer circumference till they roll very smoothly.
I won my share of races over the years, however none of mine looked as good as yours!

We started on it last night, then put in a few hours today. She did all the cutting and shaping, with very close guidance from me, except for the cockpit which I cut out on the Bridgeport. She formed the windshield frame from a cotter pin.
This is her 7th year of making Pinecars, so she is getting pretty good at it. Here are a couple pictures of it mocked up, with plenty of adjusting and sanding left to do. The derby is coming up on saturday morning, so it probably won't get as detailed as we would like due to time constraints. She wants to pinstripe it just like the real car, does anyone have an idea how to make nice miniature pinstripes?
Also, any speed secrects to help make the speedster speedy would be appreciated!
