Thanks Josh. So much time has passed that I doubt that anyone involved
is still alive to tell where they went. There must be Family survivors from
the Hupp and Graham Familys. Wonder if anyone has tried to contact them?

Sorry guys, that's total fiction. Here's the first paragraph of an article in Newsletter 2006-3:
"Rumors printed in an article about the Cord 810/812 in the 1950s have been repeated over and over again in print since then. To wit: the body dies for the Cord sedan were sold to a Japanese company after Graham and Hupp went under in 1941. Nissan is the company often mentioned. The rumors even suggest that the head of the company was so enamored of the Cord?s timeless styling that he could not bear to melt them down, and so they survive somewhere in a dusty warehouse, just like ?The Lost Ark?. Such presumed sentimentality from guys who were planning to attack us on December 7 of that year!"
Graham tooling was indeed sold to Nissan, but in the mid-1930s, before the Cord was even built. Read the story in the above Newsletter.
The truth is that no-one knows what happened to the Cord/Hupp/Graham dies.

Many thanks to all who provided the information on where the Cord body
dies went. It's a said tale of woe!
Sincerely,

Here's the passage from Ken Purdy's 1965 piece, "Motoring's Classic Revival":
[i:2rquvx9r]Just before World War II, these dies, with...a lot of other scrap, were shipped to Japan. Most of the stuff was fired back at us, but someone in Yokohama thought the Cord dies were too nice to break up for bombs, so they're still there.[/i:2rquvx9r]
I recall reading somewhere else that they were destroyed some time around when that article was written.

They went to Japan, were stored for quite a while, and eventually were scrapped c. 1965, if memory serves.
