I'm using 2 Optimas in mine. No problems.

Oops. The batteries are group 1, not group 2. But they won't fit thru the opening into the battery box. Looks like I'll have to go with the optimas again.

Thanks for all the help guys. I had an Optima in there and it was a good battery, but once it got to be 6 years old, it was having trouble starting the car occasionally. Now it is 8 years old.
Due to the easy availability and low cost, I just picked up a pair of group 2 tractor batteries at the local farm store. It looks like the pair will fit, and I will wire them in parallel for maximum amperage.
I'll let you know how it works out.
They had the long narrow batteries at the farm store, but they were too tall.

I think it is safe to say that winter is finally over, so the Duesey is coming out of storage Saturday and going to a show on Sunday. Should be fun and exciting, it has been a long winter!

How many makers of the long batteries are there to choose from? The one I remember seeing in the "J" was marked Exide but I don't know if it is still available or not.If the car starts easily I would think any battery that would fit in the box would work.
