Hello,

RM has now posted the auction result on its Site. The Duesenberg J 2336/J-487 is listed with $ 880000 (incl. buyers premium?)

That is not so much for an "original" Dual Cowl Pheaton.

These seemingly low sales make me wonder just how many of them aren't just buy back because of the no reserve feature of B-J sales?

That would be the secret of the auctioneer and the consigner. It would be interesting to know, in case of a buy-back, if the "buyer" has to pay the buyers premium to the auctioneer <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

Or t could be a second party of the seller. A friend, employee or relative.

Watching the Barett Jackson on TV when the Duesey town car crossed the block I think it was a legitimate sale. The guy who bought it bought a pantload of other cars also while I was watching. If he was a schill he was working for a lot of sellers. He had a surprised look on his face when the reserve came off and his $950k bid won it.

Can someone smarter than me explain how Gooding got so much for a Murphy conv coupe? Seems like twice the going rate?
