As far as I know, Bill still owns the car. I believe it is in the process of being restored, but it's possibly done. The way I found out is that I walked into D&D Brightworks with a set of wheel lock rings for our own speedster, and right in front of me on the floor is another set of lock rings that I knew immediately were for a speedster (only a speedster fanatic would have been able to tell exactly what car they would have gone to, because to most people they could have been off of any split-rim-clad car of the period). The proprietor told me they were for Bill Vaccaro's car, which I learned later was undergoing a full restoration.[/i]

Mike Dube sent me a PDF of the Special Interest Autos on the speedster, back when it was owned by Bill Vaccaro of NJ. It was mostly original and unrestored then - is it still today, West?

Last night I received an email from a former caretaker of the Castle car, who will be posting about it shortly.

Mr. Castle also owned (from new) a 1930 Packard 734 boattail speedster, which is now owned by a man in the northeast. Interestingly, under his ownership, it was also misidentified as an incorrect year... 1929, I believe. I often wonder if there was some intentional purpose for misidentifying both of those cars.

See "1919 Duesenberg?" in this Forum for more information.

David Traver Adolphus of "Hemmings" informed me that the car is undergoing restoration at Canepa Design in California. It continues to remain in the family of its original owner.

Mike Dube sent these photos of the Castle family's Bender-bodied Coupe in Honolulu, Hawaii, August 1956. (This was about 3 years before Hawaii became a state.)
