This is the Rollston Stutz sedan that I am most familiar with. I believe it is a 1932 and it's nomenclature is Hollywood. I could be wrong, though I believe the Prince of Wales cars I have seen in Stutz were Lebaron built.

I love a good Club Sedan and hope this car does find deep pockets. It is really a shame that someone has not been hunting parts for this car for the past 24 years (1995), since sold via Ed Weaver sale - lots of lost opportunities.

Hard to see the photo, but I would say carb says 1 1/2 - which would make it the proper carb, Which hopefully it has a 1 1/2 as references as it sounds "fun" to find a right carb. and the problem with a wrong carb is that it will idle, but will have problems in the power ranges.

Zoom the picture and it looks like it says 1 1/4 to me. Of course I'm much older than you and can't see anything unless it is worth looking at. I'm going to the auction and am willing to put a bid in for you!

Apparently there are people willing to write that check. It has a nice L-29 Cord carb. too.

RE" Do not forget it has Henny HEARSE FENDERS AND SIDE MOUNT ARMS . AND MORE. R"

That would be why I say there is something wrong with the placement of the headlight bar in relation to the grill and ... and everyone tells then tell me I am imagining things (which apparently I am not imagining).

All said though, not many sedans have potential to be truly stunning on the show field and this sedan does stand a chance if someone is willing to write large checks.

Randy,
The auction house has a value of $500-600K, seems to be excessive in my mind for what the car is missing, would you agree? If so, what do you believe the car is worth?
Thanks
Pat

Below is probably a reason Randy says "what is left of it" - it is a cool car (note the dropped body sill) and if someone wants to take on the Closed Class at Pebble Beach it could be a contender.

Here is a rough missing parts list:
Headlights
Parking Lamps
Taillight (or Taillights if you want to upgrade to a pair)
Horns
Rear Bumper
Luggage Rack
Running Board trim
Steering Wheel cluster
Gear Shift Knob
Rear View Mirror
Wipers (a new one is $2,750 and you need 2)
Dash Lights
Idiot lights
Spark Control
Ignition Switch possibly
Brake Adjustment Hardware for dash
Oil Pressure Gauge (a new one is $495)
Temperature Gauge
Amp Gauge (a new one is $540)
Altimeter Gauge
Fuel Gauge (but car has a marginal substitute)
Chronograph (but car has a marginal substitute)
Mechanical "Brain" under hood for idiot lights/Bijur/fuel pump, and .... (a new one is $16,500)
Intake Manifold is heavily repaired (who knows how that will come out).

And reproduction proper exterior door handles too

Then you need a ton of things like emblems on .... and ...

Nooooooo. Several convertibles were selling in that neighborhood (450,000 arena). The Rollston 7-passenger sedan sold for $165,000. A just as good looking and near 100-point 1929 Willoughby close-coupled sedan (J-350) sold for $267,000.

Yes, that's the car. I didn't know they called it a Prince of Wales sedan. There was one Rollston bodied 1933 DV-32 Stutz Prince of Wales sedan as well, but it didn't have the split windshield like the Duesenberg does, but it did have landau bars on the non folding rear quarter. The Stutz is currently on the West Coast somewhere, but used to be in Cleveland in totally original condition in the late 1950's. Does anyone know what this Duesenberg sold for back in 1995? I'm guessing between 300K & 400K.

Closed quarter sedans can be very attractive. I believe this is the car:

I think you're referring to J-547, which is at the Tupelo Auto Museum. The body style is known as "Prince of Wales."

In the Ed Weaver auction catelogue from 1995, there was a largely original black 1933 or 1934 Rollston bodied J limousine with a metal roof & blind rear quarter. The car had open fenders and all the early Duesenberg parts still on it & hadn't been modified at all. It was an original body/chassis/engine car - something you don't see with Model J's that much anymore. I don't know what it sold for, or who bought it. Does anyone know where it went or where it is now? It was a handsome car, but not "exotic" in apperance. Somewhat of a "sleeper" car that may have been bought quite reasonably considering the other big money open Duesenbergs at the auction. The Kruse site lists several cars from that auction, but for whatever reason this one is not there. It looked like one could have given it a tune up, gone over the brakes & fuel system & driven it as is.
