Follow this link and look at the last photo on the fourth row down. Seems Tyrone enjoyed other ACD products as well.

Power looked more at home inside than I do, I'm sure.

Power acquired J-391 in 1952, receiving it in trade for a new MG from James Talmadge, the son of Buster Keaton and Norma Talmadge. He sold it in June 1958 to J.B. Nethercutt for $3,500. The car has a lot of "European" touches, like a badge bar up front, British-style license plate, and a tiny Union Jack on the hood, all ofwhich date from the Talmadge-Power era. At one time it also had Lucas headlights. I can't tell the difference between one light and another, but since the ones currently on the car WORK, I assume they are not Lucas.

The car was sold new in December 1930 to Rear Admiral (Navy) Gene Markey after being used as a demonstrator at the Los Angeles factory branch. At the time it was painted Washington Blue, the same color that could be found on a $500 Ford.

Chris, you cut a very dashing figure enjoying the scenery.
Does the TP license plate denomination have any meaning?
He may have parked this very car as he got his fingers muddy at the Chinese Theater.
What year did he order job 391?

Looks like he also enjoyed riding a powerful Harley.

I'm already home. We were on a tight schedule running through San Antonio and Dallas so we didn't have time to stop.

I want to make it back within a couple of years, though. O'Quinn's is too amazing to see only once.

Rocky never really got into the Club "scene," and got bored after a couple years. I have most of his old newsletters now. I combined what I gleaned from them, as well as his notes taken over the years from magazines noting changes of ownership, with my own notes to form the original Registry.

Now you are in my neck of the woods. I am 30 miles north of San Antonio. Call if you are in the area. 214-868-8490

And why is Rocky Voss a "former" ACD Member? What's the deal there?

Sorry, Greg. I thought about you while I was there but we were running out of town (to San Antonio) the next day.

Some other time. I'd love to see how the work on your house is coming along.

I wish I had known you were here. I would have taken the three of you to lunch.

With all those cars you can't know all of them intimately. Don't worry about it, you do a great job as it is.

And J-391 has always been a personal favorite of mine, so it was an excellent choice.

Thanks again.

I hate to admit that the reason for choosing that particular was that it was closest to the door. But, you know you're welcome, and hopefully we can do it again and take a longer ride.

I feel like an idiot for having never checked that Revere, but it is so hard to get to.

I feel less stupid for not being able to find that conv. sdn. at any New York auto show. Hopefully, soon, I'll have time to do more research.

Chris and Rocky Go for a Ride was created by Chris Summers
Last week I had the privilege of finally meeting, face-to-face and in-person for the first time, former Club member Rocky Voss. Rocky has been collecting Duesenberg information for over 35 years, and was one of the people responsible for getting me started in this nonsense.

Thanks to the generosity of Bill Powell, Rocky and I were able to tour the O'Quinn Classic Car Collection. The highlight of the tour was a trip around the block, chauffeured by Bill, in J-391/2315, the Murphy Convertible Torpedo Berline once owned by Tyrone Power. This car was once part of the Nethercutt, Harrah's, Joe Folladori, and Imperial Palace collections, and was featured in "Road & Track" back in the late Fifties.

This was the first ride in a Duesenberg for both myself and Rocky.

Two very happy Duesenberg nuts.
