Today we retraced some of our route that we took to Jamestown on Monday. There were a few variations in the route.

We saw several areas where the trees were clear-cut and only branches and stumps remained. This is a lumbering area.

There were fields that were totally brown. Mike asked about them, and was told they were sprayed with weed killer before they plant soybeans.

We visited two very old Baptist churches. At the first one we had our coffee stop, (a fabulous second breakfast), and then toured the Historic Church. Surrounding the second Church was by an old cemetery with stones dating back to the early 1700?s. There was a photo op at the Stevensville store. We ended with a tour of a vintage courthouse, a 1?room schoolhouse, and old tavern. The tavern was saved from the Union because they were informed they had a smallpox patient inside.

Lunch was served at the Women?s club. After lunch we were free to tour on our own. We arrived home early and visited the local Walmart.

This church was very unusual inside. They had wall that rolled up & down like a roll top desk. The original Bible was on display. There were panels with the Lord's prayer and the ten commandments.

We visited a few Historic houses today in Warsaw, VA. The first stop was Mt Airy. The Taylor family acquired the land in 1682 and ten generations have lived in the house that was built on the property. It is a very well documented property. The current generation living there is a young couple with two small boys. The tour was given by Mrs. Taylor.

Next we visited Menokin., a well documented ruins given by the lst Mr Taylor to his daughter as a wedding present. They are trying to restore it by building a glass and steel representation around the surviving pieces.

We visited the Jones home last. There were several generations of the family that were Lawyers and legislatures and important military positions. There were many artifacts from their service.

This morning we woke up to raindrops falling. Our tour today was a boat trip down the Tappahannock river with a local guide pointing out the Historic and significant points of the river. There was a ancient sunken ship ruins, the customs house, A VA. College alumni?s bright orange roof, and area where Eagles like to nest and various other points of interest. The rain stopped about midway on our tour of the river. When we returned we had lunch on our own and we joined by a couple of fellows on the tour. Following that there was a narrated tour of the town and the courthouse. Our cars were on display in the square in town while we were on tour. Tonight is the closing banquet. We will be traveling to our next tour tomorrow. Here are some photo?s of our boat trip.

There were several sitings of eagles and other birds (blue heron and osprey) in this area as we traveled through.

This last house is in the area where the Eagles nested. There is currently a protest to permitting condo's and a boat docking area in this vicinity.

Joel, I don't know the story behind the engines...They were sitting near the nuclear power plant in Ohio.

Today we traveled about 140 miles to Harrisonburg, VA for our next tour. It was colder today but a beautiful day for travel. A few ACD members are here for the tour, plus lots of other friends we have traveled with for several years.

I am posting a couple of photos we took on our drive here. The Blue-ridge Mountains are beautiful this time of year. The Azaleas? and Rhododendrons are still beautiful and the Peonies are at their prime. Trees are fully leaved out and with the sunshine it remind me of "The Sound of Music".

Today was sign up, dinner on your own. There were several pretours suggestions for those who arrived early, but we chose to visit with our friends as they arrived. Scheduled touring begins tomorrow around 11. We are Meeting friends at 9 tomorrow and will probably go somewhere in the morning together.
