Here's how the far-flung Jackrabbit Trading Post signs got placed. And that's why, after one saw those signs all over the country, the one at the actual Trading Post says "Here it is!".

Mike and Joan, you guys are a rolling lesson in US geography and an inspiration to everyone who doesn't take his/her car to an ACD Meet 30 miles away because of concerns about whether "it will make it"!

Car on the roof, Rt 66, AZ

Exchange of picture taking, Seligman,AZ, Rt 66

Lake Mead from the car window
Today was a hot one! We drove from Williams, AZ. (mainly of old Rt 66) to Kingman, then on 93 to Las Vegas. I couldn?t resist another car on a roof. There were several bus loads of people in Seligman, AZ. The camera?s pointed at us as we passed by. I wanted to get some pictures of the new bridge over the Hoover Dam; it was not completed on our last trip. This time the bridgewas finished, however there weren?t any good photo opportunities. Tonight we drove to the strip, in Las Vegas. Before we put a coin in the one armed bandit, we decided to eat at the buffet at Caesar?s palace. We went to sign up for the rewards program afterwards, and I suddenly got very sick. Paramedics were called. They determined I had a food reaction, and was dehydrated. I was wheeled out to our car, after I downed 3 bottles of water, and we returned to the hotel. I?m fine now. Not as dramatic as last trip, I take that as an omen that I was supposed to wait until tomorrow to gamble.

Neon Lights on Boulder street, Las Vegas
We decided to go back to the strip today since we didn?t give them enough of our money yesterday. I lost money, Mike came out ahead. We visited the Imperial Palace car collection. I?m drinking plenty of water.

Mike standing with our waitress for lunch in the saloon ,Beatty,NV

1 lane mountain pass we traveled on, (this picture does not do it justice) (scarry)White knuckle driving!
Mountains between NV and CA driving on 168.

Not the sort of picture you get driving the interstates! Mountains between NV and CA driving on 266.

It was a warm, but beautiful drive today; a little white knuckle at times with twists and turns and ups and downs, and a one lane street through the mountains. Some of the mountains are snow covered, others were covered with dessert type scrub brush. At times you could see the striated layers of stone, or the natural caves and various colors of soil. Some areas were filled with flowering cactus; there were mining operations, but much of the trip it was completely deserted. The towns were few and far between . Mike filled up with gas at lunch, and didn?t see another gas station until we arrived in Big Pine, CA at 5 PM after crossing 3 high mountains. He was worried he might run out of gas in the mountains.
