Hi,

I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed the narrative and photos of your trip! In a way I feel I am right there touring along with you!

One question: Apparently you're running water, not antifreeze, in the cooling system. Why?

Keep up the good work!

Mike runs water instead of antifreeze because water cools better and antifreeze removes paint if it boils over. He has a rust inhibitor that is combined with the water. At home his cars are stored in a climate controlled building. It's only a problem on the road if the weather turns cold, then he drains the radiator into the hotel wastebaskets, and refills it in the morning.

A couple of nice old windmills in NM
The past 3 days, the wind has been between 20 and 40 MPH with gust of 50 MPH. Last night it was so bad that it blew the car cover off the car (It was tied on). Luckily, it caught on the rear fender and we discovered that before going to bed and were able to put the side curtains up and rescue our cover.
Today has not been a great touring day. We toured today with the top up and the side curtains on! A First! We had snow overnight and it continued most of the morning. Mike refilled the radiator, packed the car, bundled up, and we decided to go south. Hopefully, it will be enough warmer here to avoid the radiator drain tonight, but I haven?t checked the forecast yet. We are in Fort Sumner, NM.
Blackie has vacuum leak. Mike tried switching from high to low range and now it is stuck in low range, so he is out trying to fix that now.

You were less than an hour away from Enid, OK and didn't stop by?!! We would have at least fed you and kept you out of the snow......
