We began our day with the top down on our way to Yosemite. It was cold but the forecast was sunny.

As we neared the park entrance, the dark cloud overhead got closer and closer. We debated whether to put the top up. We were beginning to get wet, so we pulled under this rock, and put the top up.

Here?s a picture of Blackie going through the rock tunnel at the entrance to Yosemite.

Leaving the park for the return trip to the hotel.

Unfortunately when the top is up you cannot see all the beautiful scenery. The rain was fairly steady; it stopped for a short while when we had lunch. We thought about putting the top down after lunch, but it started to rain again. We planned on traveling south on Wawona Road and making the circle back to our hotel in Maraposa. Shortly after we passed through the tunnel, the rain turned to snow, huge, sloppy, wet, snow. With the slippery conditions and the steep bends and climbs, we decided to return back to the hotel on the route we came in on. We turned around and retraced our route back through the tunnel. This time our front window was so steamed up, Mike had to follow the center lines through the side window. The route coming back was not nearly as scenic .
When we got back to Mariposa, we decided to stop at the museum in town. They were about to close so it was a very short stop, but a fantastic museum. They had a lot of information on gold mining and the early days of California. We are planning to go back tomorrow.
The buzzer for the blinkers died, so Mike is forever leaving his blinkers on. It is a mystery to me, how we can be sitting in a restaurant that is full of people, and someone can walk in, and pick us out of the crowd as the owner of that black sporty car with the blinkers on.
Mike changed the oil and washed the car tonight

It's prolly like small town Auburn, where everyone knows everyone, except for those 2 strangers. ;)

Anyhow, I just LOVE this photo:

It was very hard to choose 3 for today. They were all great!

A new mystery machine care to guess? We found this outside of Sonora, CA
Today , we again drove to Yosemite, then travel north to Sonora. It was a cool but slowly warmed up to the point, I was able to take my coat off. Yosemite was majestic. The mountains and the trees were huge, and lots and lots of waterfalls, all gorgeous. Although we traveled the same places as yesterday for most of the day, the scenery was totally different because of the weather change. Yesterday was much more mystic, with the mountains hidden by clouds and hazy mists provided by the rain.
We ran into a group from the West coast chapter of the Durant Motors Automobile Club and were invited to tour with them tomorrow. One of the guys is a 50 year ACD member who owns three CORDS, as well as the STAR that he is driving on this tour.

Today, we traveled with the Durant Club and made several new friends. It was great to have new conversations and see new scenery. Our Auburn fit right in.

We visited the fish hatchery, the water generating plant, the town of Jamestown, and Don Padro recreation area.
The mystery equipment in the field is an old dredge for gold mining. The Cord owner in the Durant club was Roger Von Bergen.

Roger and Pam Von Bergen are planning to be part of this summer's Cord Convoy. Small world, ain't it?

We travelled to Danville, CA to see the Blackhawk Museum and Collection. It was another beautiful day to travel. We saw the windmills lining the mountaintops, a large reservoir, and lots of traffic. The Blackhawk museum was very interesting, especially if you are into European exotics, like Ferrari, Bugotti, Rolls Royce, etc. There were a few choice ACD cars, as well as some other premier American cars. A wonderful exhibit of Juke Boxes and an interesting exhibit of wheel chair charity were displayed as well as the cars. After our visit, we continue southwest to Palo Alto.
