Transmission Fluid level

The trans and dif. share fluid. The ring gear throws the fluid to a trough that sends it to the trans. where it runs back to the dif. The way to fill is put the oil in at the trans filler plug until it runs out the dif. level hole.

Got it, 5qts and overflow pipe plug on back of diff about 1/4 up.

I check the fluid level in the transmission and there is only about an inch of fluid on the stick.
Not sure if I am doing it right. Also could not find the capacity of it.
Any information would be appreciated.
