Just to explain in a bit more detail the 660 mile trip was just in one direction. We ended up covering about 1,600 miles in the week long event.
The best I have done is 500 miles in a day heading from north of Sydney towards Melbourne. The Actonite Cord went like a dream. I only stopped to visit friends.

Just to be clearer, the 660-mile trip was only made in one way. In the course of the week-long event, we ended up travelling around 1,600 kilometres.
The most I've ever travelled in a day is 500 miles, from Sydney's north shore to Melbourne's south . The Actonite Cord performed flawlessly. I merely paused to see some pals.

Are replacement parts for the CV joints readily available?

Not readily available. I have the original joints remachined. Not inexpensive!Thats why I bought the old camper with the L-29 chassis so I would have joints ready to go when I need them. I think Ken Clark may have made some reproduction parts.
