Hi John -- first, why weren't you at the Auburn meet? 20+ Cord family members present -- never before and never again.
What is wrong with the cast iron head on the L-29 provided by the factory? I know of no overheating problems related to a sound, clean head, and weight is certainly not a factor, in my opinion. Besides, there are many heads out there if you need one. Yours was sound and original to that block.
I'd stay with the original, if I were you. I have 16 engines, 14 in cars, and all that are running have iron heads and run fine.

Is there anyone in this forum that has any experience with the Aluminum L-29 Head that is being offered by MFT/USA?
