I have restored several original L-29 Cords. The fire wall was always body color.

Firewall Colour was created by Murray Hall
When I was restoring our 1929 L-29 Cord, a Cord expert told me that the firewall should be painted black, no matter the colour of the car. I had had the body painted red including the firewall on the engine side. Since I was told that it should be black, I had it repainted. The more I thought about it recently, it doesn't seem logical that the factory would do this. Can anyone with an original car or knowledge about this please let me know? I will have it repainted if it should be body colour.
Thanks!
