Mike,
Take a look at my article in Newsletter 1 2019 on LED lighting (I need to update this article). The LED lights I use have lights around the side as well at the top (white on the sides and red on top). I found they worked well in the 810/812. I tried reorentating the socket so the top was pointed towards the lens and found it didn't have a big improvement over the original socket location. But the LED bulbs were a major improvement over the original bulbs.

The bulbs I bought have alot of the light coming out the end of the bulb, thus pointing up and not out the lens. Maybe I have the wrong bulbs? Bought them from the guy from Down Under at Hershey.

Mike maybe pictures are better than simply writing a post. I try to always post pictures of before, as I'm doing something and finally an as left picture. Its something left over from my machinist work days. Our shop called it... "As found and as left". It was a mathmaticlly exact picture of the machining work needed to restore a demention.

I still don't understand. On the 810/812 the socket on the tail lights are on the bottom and the bulb sits vertically. The LED bulbs work fine there and give a lot more light. Why doesn't it work in the L-29? or is the L-29 just duller then an 810/812? :-)

Yes that is correct Jim. The bulbs are up and down.

Hi Mike, A question from a dumb 810/812 guy - I don't understand when you say the lights are "vertical instead of horizontal"? It sounds like the bulbs are up and down instead of side to side? I'm missing something, can you please explain differently.
Thanks, Jim

LED bulbs was created by mikespeed35
I have just installed LED bulbs in my L-29 Cord. The sockets in the cowl and rear lights in a L-29 are vertical instead of horizontal thus do not work well with LED bulbs. I would not recomend converting because the brightness does not improve from incandescent bulbs.
