Steve for the "Real Love of Cords and the history of the Auburn Automobile Company" back in 2018 I helped to organise a special meet in Connersville which was the first held there in many years. It was a wonderful success.
During the final dinner the Mayor of Connersville presented me with The Key to the City of Connersville for my contributions. I came close to having a heart attack and being buried in Connersville. That wonderful key and the love shared through it is one of my most treasured posessions. And to top off the celebrations the Mayor also gave me a Connersville City flag which is proudly dispayed in my garage.

Steven another little GEM I found on Ebay to use on my Cord which I dearly love is a period tyre or tire pressure gauge from Connersville. Originally it was probably a key ring accessory but what better way to check the tyres of your Cord?

Here's a very nice accessory only for the person who "really loves" his or her Cord.
It was found by chance earlier this year for sale in Spain on Ebay. It was made by a company called Juvenia in Switzerland in the 1930s. To increase sales they used a number of made up brand names. They is no connection with EL Cord, it was just a coincidence. It is a man's watch. Men's watches have become progressively bigger over time.
What is the time? Cord time ............................ to go for a ride of course!
It really is a GEM.

time for some new material. the 1980's show "my two dads" featured a custom Cord chair. someone involved in that show must have loved Cords. i've actually e-mailed paul rieser asking what happened to the chair. no reply on that.

Steve, it is similar but not the same grill. The louvers are inverted in your picture and the panel below the front of the grill is not open.

Steve, I have no idea who fitted the larger trunk. It is not a job that most people would tackle. It looks very professional. I have also seen pictures of another Cord fitted with the back half of a Lincoln Zephyr body again another pretty extreme project. Perhaps they were done "For The Love Of Cords?"
A few years ago I came across the attached pictures on the Internet which were listed as being a 1940 Hupmobile hand made prototype.

randy, on the hupp/graham "proto-type" wasn't the cord front-end dropped entirely before production began? maybe there was some debate as to wiper placement?
on the pictured car the cord hood looks to be integrated very well into the rest of body. much better done than amateur work.

my picture of the "big butt cord" was gleaned off the internet a few years back so, i think it has survived. i don't have any notes as to the location. was that a factory modification?
additionally, the ambulance/hearse has survived too. on page 1 is a photo gleaned of the internet within the last few years. if i remember correctly on that one...... it is in south america. was there more than one cord hearse?

Attached is a picture of a similar Cord in the Brockman Collection.
It may possibly be the same car with further hood vent modifications?

For the Cord owner / restorer who loves his automobile what better way to check the tyre pressures than to use a CONNERSVILLE pressure gauge?
I found this little GEM on the Internet recently. On the front it says "CONNERSVILLE INDIANA" and on the opposite side it says "AUTO PARTS CO". We don't know exactly when it was made however it has some age to it.
I suppose it could also be used by Auburn owners who love their cars.

i don't want this to become a cord "toy" section of the forum. i'm always looking for interesting uses of the cord image. i think the next couple photos speak to many hours of hand work on some fairly common wyandotte cord toy cars. they sort of fill out the model line.
i found these listed on ebay. apparently, a few of each were hand created by altering the familiar pressed steel cars. the company was called new era toys. marvin silverstein was the owner. these were created 20 years back.

yet another example of the lengths people will go to in honor of the cord.
i found this on the central michigan craigslist (sept 2019). although, it is a bit of an ugly duckling, you can see considerable time was put in here. obviously, a cord fan.
it is built up from a chevy s-10 .

When you compare the original Cords to what was on the road at the same time back in the mid 1930s the Cords do stand out in the midst of a collection of rather bulky and uninspiring automobiles. How to you improve on perfection ? The Cords with eight pipes are too much of a good thing. A recent three wheeler has the front end of a Cord coupled up to one rear wheel and I do not think it will be a sales sensation. Similarly with other look alikes they just don't make the grade.
Gordon Buehrig and his team got it right the first time. The world would be a boring place with out our 810 and 812 Cords.
I rest my case.

there haven't been any new photos posted here in a while so, here some are. considering the car was a sales failure....it sure does receive a lot of love. here's three very different takes on the cord aura . a ford add from the 1970's, a 1 of "cord" type prototype and a hot rod that apparently thought the stock cord was not already unique enough. sometimes love hurts(to look at).....but the intent of all cord incarnations is that someone loves the style & class of cord cars.
