Is this the flag on the license holder?
From the look of the people it looks like a victory parade in 1945 of the Second Sino-Japanese conflict. The Allies and the Flying Tigers participate.
The UK sent troops that supported the Burma road. The war ended with a truce, hence the happy faces but who are the honored riders?

I am somewhat embarrassed to be talking to myself on this thread but
I was examining the subject photo image again this evening and note that
at the far right upper corner of the image is a sign in English " Sodas
CANDY Lunch " on a building so we know the negative is properly scanned.
It also follows that we know this was a right hand drive Cord phaeton. I
am going to stick my neck way out and say that it was a later Model 810 ,
made after May, 1936 or a Model 812. Why? Because both of the cowl doors are open, indicating that they were both ventilators , rather than
the right side door being oil/water fill access. It was intended that air
flow from both into the interior. All car interiors are hot during a parade,
especially a Cord in Shanghai in 1945. The colour is Palm Beach Tan.
By the way, does anyone recognize the symbol or logo which appears
in the extreme lower right aspect of the photo image? Richards in Iowa.

of the photo. Josh has written more books about Cord than the tablets
shattered by Moses when he cam down from the cliffs Ras Sufsafeh and
saw the molten calf and the dancing and has almost infinite knowledge
on the subject of Cord. Hank Portz , a WWII veteran , verifies that the
insignia on the standing caucasian officer's cap is NOT American. Josh
seems to recall the officer being named Boyce , a British officer with
little doubt. Assuming that the negative or photo print was scanned
properly , and is not reversed , then we have a right hand drive Cord.
This should not surprise us since large portions of China, including the
port of Shanghai , were under European spheres of influence. England
was one of the most powerful influences and they drive on the left side
of the road and their automobiles have right hand drive. This car may
have belonged to officer Boyce ( if that be his name ) and he may
well have brought it to Shanghai long before the outbreak of WWII.
I would not be at all surprised if this car still exists in the hands of a
collector. Anybody know if this is true? Sincerely, Jonathan Richards

Because the flag displayed on the front bumper license plate bracket
is that of Nationalist China , I suggest this may have been a parade in
celebration of victory in the streets of Hong Kong or Shanghai. The two
asian officers standing in back seat appear to be Chinese and the other
person, a caucasian military officer , may well be British , not American.
Come on you WWII veterans and scholars, help us out. Thanks.
