The green on the edge of the glass is from the manufacturing process. There is chemical they used to put in the glass that gives it the green on the edges. That is very common in older glass of all types. I don't remember what the chemical is.

Real Uranium glass will fluoresce bright green under ultraviolet light.

All my green filters on the gauges were in great shape when I restored my gauges. Just a note about the glass color of the gauges. The original gauge glass was treated by Radiation just like the wrist watches that glowed in the dark. Looking at the edges you actually CAN see the green tint. The replacement gauge glass Stan offers is edge tinted green. I have seen plenty of older car dash boards and the Cord has by far the best sexy looking dash especially when you see the lights on when its dark. Its as stunning as the rest of the car...

I did the same as Mike - I found some Clear Plastic Report Binder Cover material at Office Depot that was thicker clear and between that and the gauge housing I used green translucent report cover binder material in bright medium/grass green. Also, some of the little tabs on the gauges were damaged, so I drilled, threaded, and installed screws to hold the plastic in - I had the gauge shells off so as to not get metal shavings into the gauges when doing so.

There is green plastic used on many instruments of this era. When replacing them for my Auburn I found a green plastic for report covers worked good.

ALL glass in the Cord were clear, Including the instruments. They just gave a green glow at night when the instruments lights were on due to the piece of green plastic on the side of the instrument housing that let the light in.

Dear friends, I would like to know if the glass of the Cord 810 sedan were colorless or greenish?
