Jim, as I don't have any shop manual info yet, what is the pressure this releases at?
Thanks, Ken - 812 SC

Thanks Terry. This has been my plan but... I'm trying to "feel" the seat or see what it looks like deep inside the cover. It amazes be the "repairs" I have found in this car restoration. I tested the plug to seat seal with brakclean and nothing leaked by. Am hoping the mechanic didn't modify the seat to accept the plug.

Gary it looks like the last guy who worked on the pump lost the ball and substituted the bit of rod. I would go back to using a ball. Your spring looks the same as in Jim O'Brien's picture.

Jim and Terry. I "found" a zip lock bag of gears and parts to my original trans oil pump. From my best recall I did not have a ball but had this plug to be held against the seat for pressure regulation. It seals very well but I plan to test it better before commiting it to the design. Have either of you seen a plug instead of the ball?

The spring holds a ball against a seat.

Thanks Jim.. I have seen this on my work bench...Isn't there a sliding plug type seat that this spring holds closed till a certain pressure is reached?

Sorry Terry. I spend nearly three hours searching for this spring. But it has found a hiding place and wont come out to play. I recall Henry used to test run the pumps he rebuilt but no idea what he used as a test bench. Maybe he just filled the pump with oil. Bolted it to a block plate and ran the pump watching a test gauge. Adjusted for pressures. Will continue looking later.

Gearbox Oil Pump Pressure Relief Valve Spring was created by Terry Cockerell
My gearbox pressure relief valve appears not have the correct spring. What I have is a fine spring with a spacer behind it.
The original item has Part No B11026
Can anybody give me the overall dimensions of the correct spring?
Length, outside diameter, number of coils and wire diameter.
Thanks in advance.
