Gary the following information was supplied by PP Mary Killeen.
The chain is miniature sash chain, size 12 and should be nominally 6" long being composed of approximately 27 - 33 links ( Spot on Mike Huffman )
The chain should be silver coloured cad or zinc finish.
This chain is available nickel plated or in stainless steel and sold by,
Wm A Kilian Hardware Co
Philadelphia PA
The connectors at each end are 1 1/8" long, made from 0.045" dia zinc plated wire with openings of 5/32" dia and 1/8" dia

Can someone tell me and others what the gas cap chain is made from and how many links it is long? Please show the correct attachments for the clips on both ends. I know this might be trivial to many but its an important often over looked part of restoration. Pictures of correct orientation will help
