Hi Wyn.
The only compass I have seen was in George Arakelian's cabriolet.
I believe they are exceptionally rare.
Attached are two pictures which you can use to scale off the bracket.
It appears to be 3/4" x 1/8" brass flat bar that has been chrome plated.
The aluminium connecting bracket looks a bit out of place, but I am just guessing.
