Gary the earliest make of car that I know of to use the monocock design was the Italian Lancia Lambda and that was in the 1920s. The body was the chassis and made from fairly thick sheet metal. Quite revolutionary at the time.

The 810 812 cars were a big advancement in design and structure for the time. It was many years later that modern cars used the monocock design.

I guess I never knew that the bodies were welded to the floor pans that formed the "unibody".
I am also surprised that the "X" bracing used on other period cars is gone.

Hi Andy, the main design feature of all Cord bodies is that they are monocock construction without a separate chassis. There is a bolt on frame that carries the drive train up front.
Check out the pictures of my body on the rotisserie.
Happy New Year.

I do not know of any body mounts. 810 and 812 Cord bodies were welded to the frame under the cars. Am going to be watching this post for more information too.

I am going to build a frame for my replica Phaeton. As I plan and design it, it would be so much easier if I could get a drawing of the factory body mounts.
If any one has this information I would appreciate it
