I spoke with Ron but he was unable to help with the interior questions.
He did suggest that I contact Randy Ema, which I will do, who bought his Beverly which had an original interior when he bought it (now replaced).
I will try to find the info from the 73 news letter, but my car is not a custom so interiors are probably not the same.

The end fitting is the same as the ones that I have although I don't have the buckles yet.
I would appreciate it if you could give me a good verbal description of how it was constructed. Please don't open it up to take pictures as I do not want you to damage it in any way.

Thanks Gary,
You should have two arm rests that would mount to the front doors only.
The rear seat is too far back to have an armrest on the rear doors.
I will try to post a picture of what I have.

I forgot to mention that the robe strap is symmetrical.

Terry this is exactly what mine looks like.... Less the actual robe strap.

Steve the end fittings of the robe strap are chrome plated Pot Metal.
I have attached a picture of my restored original robe strap which is quite fragile ........................... hence the sign.

Steve, They had at least 3 or 4 different upholstery patterns for the Beverly. You need to do a bunch of research on your car to figure out what is correct. You might want to take a few photos and send them to Ron Irwin and ask him. Also in the 1973 Newsletters was a set of articles on the upholstery for a Custom Beverly which has some very good information.

My car did not have upholstery on the rear area you referred too. I know the armchair cars had something that looked like an armrest. I do have arm rests but no idea if they were on the front or back doors. Can't recall if I have 2 or 4 of them. I will look into this. I did not have front kick panels either. The front seat robe rack hardware was pot metal.

I was leaning toward 2" pleats on the door panels as I have seen both 1 1/2" and 2" pleats in various pictures so it is good to know what was correct. 1 1/2" pleats it will be.
I don't need pictures but while I have your attention . I do have a few more questions.
1- Do you have arm rests on the rear quarter panels that are just aft of the back doors? Mine did but I don't think that it is correct? If there are no arm rest on that panel it would have been pleated. Do these pleats match the door pleats (11/2") or match the seats (2")
2- Do you have a pocket on the front right kick board under the dash?
3- I have what look to be the correct fittings for the robe strap that goes across the back of the front seat but they are made of plated cast pot metal which makes me feel that they are not original. I would think they should be plated brass. Do you have any idea?

Hello Steve.
I have an original Beverly sedan interior. My seats both backs and seats are 2 inch wide pleats. The door panels are 1 1/2 inch wide. Some owner before me had seat covers installed so my seats are in really nice condition. I may not restore them but am in no hurry to make that division. I pictures are needed I can post some but.. I believe I have posted some a few years back. My ability to use the webs search engine is not vary good.

Hi, My name is Steve Koller and I am in the process of restoring a 1937 Cord Beverly # 32439 S with engine # FC 3179 that I purchased about 2 years ago in a half completed restoration from the estate of Frank Lista from Somerset NJ.

My car had been previously reupholstered to what I think is a close facsimile of the original but I am not sure.

After looking at all the pictures that I could find, it seems that every interior I have seen, the all vary


to some degree , from one to another.

My questions are as follows:
1- What are the width of the pleats on the seat and on the doors and are they the same, Mine were approximately 2" and that seems about right.

2- My car had arm rest built into the rear quarter panels but I have not seen another picture of any car that had this?

3- Is there a pocket on the right side of the front kick panel? I have seen some cars that have this and others that don't.

Any help on the above and any information of the history of this car would be appreciated.
