Michael looking more closely at the floor of the storage compartment there appear to be the heads of two wood screws. I assume you Cord is fitted with a radio? Consequently those two screws would be holding an insulating rubber spacer under the floor. Normally I have seen bolts passing through a piece of rubber hose. Under you car is there a piece of wood inside the rubber hose or do the screws just pass through the rubber hose as in the attached picture?

Thanks Michael, the storage compartment lining looks to be completely original like your trunk. The small piece of leather is where the removable seat base frames sits against when in position. I must admit that I should have used a wider pen when drawing the lines. The orientation of the lines in each of the panels are the same as mine.

There is some of the trunk lining under the front seat. If you take a close look you can see another piece of leather in a "wrong" color. This reminds me of my favourite Mercedes W114 with electronic injection (no USA delivery): the clamp for the controll unit box has a piece of leather as a silencer and you can see all the different colors they did deliver at that time just using rest pieces for that purpose.

Hi Michael, thanks for Posting the picture. I would have expected that the colour of the leather would have matched the carpet. My interior is dark blue and my leather toe protectors are dark blue.
Also thanks for Posting the pictures of your trunk lining.
Is there any of the original lining material in the compartment under the front seat of 1704 A ?
If there is could you Post a picture in the Forums?

Toe Protectors was created by Terry Cockerell
Yesterday I had a look at the underside of the front seat of my Westchester to see what repairs were needed. The seat had been sitting in a spare bedroom while the restoration has been on the go. I noticed a crumpled up piece of leather tacked behind where one of the seat sliding tracks is located. Playing around with it I realised it formed a sort of pocket shape that had hung down behind the slider track. There was only a fragment left of the other one. They were both dark blue leather.
The penny then dropped these little leather curtains were there to stop shoes or toes contacting the sharp edges of the slide rail ends. The Factory had thought of everything. For those missing these little GEMS I have attached some pictures and a sketch of how to make them. This is probably the last secret given up by the Actonite Cord.
