Odd question Gary. When my Startix was working I just followed the normal procedure of turning the ignition on then depressed the clutch. After I had problems with the Startix I fitted a "Ford " solenoid and modified the wiring. It was then a case of depressing the clutch as a safety matter before turning the ignition on and then pushing a starter button hidden under the dash.
I do not think there would be any power surges to cause any damage, however I am really just guessing.
Check out the attached You Tube film showing a test drive in an 810 sedan.
This time I am going to disconnect the restart system on the Startix and use it just for starting.

Question About Starting a Cord was created by 1748 S
All my reading about proper methods to start the Cord is turn the ignition switch to on. Then depress the clutch peddle. If the clutch peddle is depressed FIRST and then the ignition switch turned on will any surge to any switches cause issues? Asking for a friend...
