Gary,
I'd like to see the internals changing gears as well! I think that would be a slightly more involved project!

I too enjoyed the viedo but had really thought it was going to show the open trans shifting thru the gears. Thats something I really would like to see. I may try doing that when I put my trans back together.

Congratulations, it works. They are great when everything is working properly.
It just takes time and dedication to get them that way.
Just imagine designing this system back in the early 1930s
Ground breaking technology.

Today was a good day! After about a year chasing down distributor and transmission problems I finally got Geneva (1937 Cord 812 Beverly supercharged) back on the road. About a year ago I was getting inconsistent spark and traced the trouble to my distributor.
Sent it out to Jim O'Brien and he set the points and timing between them correctly.
Also had a fuel pump that had a leak - a quick ship to Then and Now Automotive in Massachusetts fixed that.
And finally had an intermittent shifting problem. I checked out every connection and the function of every switch with the 10-pin connector unplugged and everything worked as it should. Plug in the connector and it still wouldn't shift (no R, 1, 4). So I replaced the original 10-pin connector with a modern weatherpak connector, fired up the engine, and the shifting worked!
While I had the transmission cover off figured I'd make a video of the transmission going through the gears, so below is a link to my youtube video showing me going through R - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4.
Today drove about 20 miles to a local car show and Geneva performed flawlessly.

Hi, I have the newsletter you are asking about. I cannot figure out how to attach it to an ACD message. If you will send me your actual email address, I'll reply with the newsletter as a pdf attachment.

Friends,
I've read of a test box that people have built to help diagnose electrical wiring problems with the Cord transmission. I understand that it may have been discussed in ACD Newsletter 2003 #7, but I don't have that. Is there anyone can post information about the test box or a copy of that newsletter article? It would be much appreciated!
