Finished Trans Main Shaft was created by 1748 S
I'm finally finished with the thrust washer fit on the main shaft of my trans. Gathering the information plus getting the correct thrust washers took way too long. But its finished. The forth gear clearance is between 0.003 and 0.00350 thousands. Third gear is about 0.00350 and second gear is 0.00375. I realize some are wondering why I went so precise. its my method of doing it right. I'm sure some that have rebuilt these transmissions may have other opinions about this but what I did is for me or the next custodian of this car. Passing something off as "good enough" is not what I can do ... My honor and integrity comes before the all mighty dollar or my time spent going to the lengths I go. Now its time to clean and paint the case. Then put it back together. I will be posting pictures of how it all goes together so others can learn or just want to see what makes it tick...
