Glad to be able to help Bill. I drove my Cord around 10,000 miles in 5 years then decided to restore it properly. Once you get started you find all sorts of things that were hidden by sloppy repairs of the past. However it just had to be done beside it still had the original wiring which was dangerous. It is best to do it properly and have a reliable car for many years to come.

Terry, Many thanks. Looks like mine were installed correctly. Mystery remains as to why there is a significant gap/hole under the bumper brackets. I'll post some pix to better expain. New welt will help only marginally. Looks like I'm stuck until years down the road when I can afford to have some minor(ish) body work done and get a first rate paint job. =-(

Bill the rubber grommets can only go on one way to cover the openings in the fenders and suit the contour of the body
The long ends of the rubber grommets are at the top.
Attached are a couple of pictures of my Westchester

Sorry. My car never had any but... I bet if you went to the web. And typed in 1937 Cord you would get many pics showing the correct placement. Just look at several for a good representation. I do it all the time. Even sometimes I ask for pics I look up an item by name.. Like rear bumper or trunk locks..

Could a couple of you post photos of your rear bumper boots, please? I have a sneaking suspicion that the new pair I purchased were installed upside down and on the wrong sides. But I have nothing to compared them with. We have a shortage of Cords in Raleigh
