I should add that the gap I'm trying to fill was a gift from the previous owner

Mine runs the entire length but stops at the Bumper bracket, then starts again about an inch after the bracket, thus the fore-mentioned gap.

I've always found that the rear fender welt is one long length for the entire rear fender to body seal.

You're right......but the top coat is custom rattle can. These pieces of welt will be only about 8" long and almost completely straight. Since the welt material seems to be vinyl, shiny and slick I'm more concerned about the top coat flaking off.

You may want to investigate a flex agent for the paint.

I need/want to replace the short pieces of welt material under the rear bumper brackets . After replacing the bumper bracket booty I was left with an
ugly one inch gap. The material I purchased from Stan looks to be vinyl. Is it safe to assume this stuff needs to be primed b4 painting. Will any automotive primer work?
