After spending a considerable amount of time working "around the front fenders on my own Cord" may I suggest that to simplify the work of reassembly you should remove the front fenders before refitting the drive train.
The fenders will come off without too much work. I also remember reading Moonshadow has some extra fender supports extending out from the front of the chassis.
I am leaving the fenders off my Cord until the drive train has been installed and the engine started.
You have my best wishes for the completion of this project. Hopefully we can once again see Moonshadow taking part in the
Grand Parade.
Kindest regards,

Mike is 100% correct .
"Coolant" does not equal antifreeze, although today the slang term 'Anti freeze' usually implies antifreeze/coolant mixture that will protect an engines cooling system for BOTH temperature extremes.
Sadly, Mr. Malks living in California probably never had the freezing problem, and (IMO) probably had the car tuned for optimum "not running hot"

Gary you can see one heck of a hole in the lower LHS of the block. A similar one is in the RHS.
I too almost had a panic attack seeing the method of lifting. Stout rope wrapped around the engine and transmission would be safer, the load being spread over a wider area.

Was thinking the same. But it appears to me working. I recall removing my manifolds. Then chain to head bolts and strap around trans to balance the lift. Seemed to lift square and level. But this was 40 years ago.

That's some sad news. I had no idea. I recall talking to Henry Portz some time back about selling his Cab... He told me the block cracked in shipping and a non supercharged engine was installed after that.He was not happy but "things happen". I recently learned he had Evans water-less coolant in the engine when he sold the car. But is developed a leak. So the unknowing shipper handlers added water to the coolant. This ended up freezing and cracking the block. Sad on so many levels...
