We are in the process of restoring/preserving the 1935 810 Phaeton hand built show car. Would the shocks have been painted black? Would they have been consistent with the production Cords or the production Auburns in 1935?
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Mitch

I can tell you what the finish was for 34-36 Auburn. Same company, same methods, and still trying to save money.
1- mill scale grey
2- semigloss black
3- Auburn had covers, but I would suspect semigloss black
4- cad
5- mill scale grey

CAD plate or Black paint? was created by wynlaidig
Can anyone tell me if the following parts were originally CAD plated or painted black:
1. U-bolts attaching front & rear leaf springs
2. Rear fender brace (1/2" rod, bent and threaded)
3. Safety loops around front leaf spring
4. Seat slider rails
5. The rear-most shackle for the leaf springs (the part that the rear leaf spring hinges on, with the two pins and rubber bushings)
Thanks in advance.
