Thank you Terry for the quick response. I really enjoy pictures of anything original. I see a few different things in the last picture.It appears we need two clips. Not just the one on the cap.
So now to shop for an original gas cap just to make me feel I have done all I can to return to originality.....

Gary I think the cap is an after market item and not an original petrol tank cap. The original item did not have any wording stamped into it. I have attached two pictures one shows an original unrestored Cord while the other comes from the R estoration Guidelines

Gas Cap Clip was created by 1748 S
Today I was lucky and this clip was gifted to me. It may mean nothing to some but for me its a priceless gift.
So do I have it connected correctly to the cap? And finally is this 40 plus year old cap correct? I purchased the cap from Stan many years ago
