if you have an extra window regulator with a double coil spring, remove the spring , cut the extra coil off and bend the end for the hook. Works great.

I also ordered a spring on the ebay link. It was a little wider than the original so I ground down the end to fit the post. It works great, now the trunk lifts just like it did before. See pictures also are 2 shots of my flipper. Thanks for your help.

I have never seen a front flipper but here are some pics of what my hood support looks like without the spring. I have purchased all the springs a member has offered on ebay. He found an old US company that has the nearly 100 year old spring making machines to make nearly any spring for our cars.

Admire the few I have seen in action. Fascinating little clockwork machines in their simplicity. It would take a video to understand there movements. The genius at Duesenberg to create a solution to a minor inconvenience. I am missing front and rear flippers and have always moved the props manually. It seems like they are held in place by hinge pivot pin rivets. To install the replacement part you may have to remove the pin rivet? A short video of shift cycle would be helpful.

Here are my flipper pics on my trunk lift arm. My spring is broken so its not working like design. But thanks to the pics supplied I can see how its supposed to work. I may try making my own spring.

Glad it worked out for you, this type spring is common on door window risers, even modern cars there is one on a Harley kick starter. It may have been thickened to prevent breakage. Do you have a picture of the tab and small spring on the prop. They are online as well but I would like to see a video of how they work as my front and rear are missing.

Well I was wrong about the spring pictured here by balinwire as to be exact. Our original is .250 or just a little more wide. The replacement GM spring is .300 plus maybe a thousands or two. So its bout 50 thousands wider. Some spring modification will need to be made for it to fit the lock area that has been crushed down to capture it.See pics..

My spring came today. What balinwire suggested is an exact copy of our trunk spring. Will post pics later showing it.Now my question is was this a Cord only spring that GM found would work for them or did Cord find this GM part worked well for use...Sometimes it gets a little deep in my questioning...

Thanks for the lead on the spring on ebay, I bought one and will give it a try. My trunk support spring broke last year in New Zealand, the only thing that broke on the car in 2,000 miles of driving on the islands. Not bad for a Cord.

When I was reading this posting yesterday I decided to take a look at my spring.Sure enough mine is broken in the same place as this one. So I also need a spring. I tried to remove my broken spring..... Interesting how they are held in place. The center is really had some metal forced into the end. The long end under the pin has been crushed down on one side to keep the end firmly in place. This will be fun.

Try "Restoration Specialities" their catalogue is online.
They are a good source of a huge range of items.

I am looking for a Trunk spring for my 37 Beverly. This is the trunk support spring for the support latch. I have tried Auburn Cord and they do not have it. Is there a substitute out there?
