The Cord pictured in Johnmereness's posting is one of the Hand Built Show Cars. There is no brace inside the bonnet or hood.
I had a look through Google Images under Goodrich Silvertown tyres and found the attached advertisement which shows an earlier time frame however the two diamonds are clearly seen on the tyre wall. These tyres are called Goodrich Silvertown Cords.
I have added a picture of my Westchester that was taken in late 1936 it clearly shows the original tyres with the two diamonds.

Terry, You are correct this is a Hand built Cord but not because of the lack of a brace under the hood. I have seen "production" Cords with no braces, One , two even three braces.

If you look at the ribs on the firewall you can tell it's a hand built. Also the Air Cleaner and the fuel pump. If you look close there are a couple of other differences.

That is correct John , blackwall GoodYear diamond treads .

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Unfortunately, a Goodrich Silvertown is not produced today. You can get a BF Goodrich Tire (and I have bought a few sets over times for various Cadillacs and they are fine), though is is a far different beast.
