Tim mine are very lightly stamped. Am not sure if my trans is a type 2 or 4.

Terry: there are a few cases out there that have the number stamped on the side of the case. Look carefully; may be a light stamping.
Tim.

Hi Gary.
This is very interesting as T585 refers to a Type 2 transmission from Sid Ayres book. Also the number should have been on the top machined surface of the case and at the rear left side.
I am not missing any parts as the interlock mechanism had been unbolted when the picture was taken, same as the top cover.
I will have a closer look at the side of the case above the stiffener.
Thanks,
Terry

My trans serial numbers are found on the stiffener just above the case casting number.

Terry your case appears the same as mine. You are missing some interlock pieces. My numbers were found on the side case stiffener. Here are some pics to help you see what I have.

Terry,
Clean off the top machined surface of the case. The numbers should be between the cover and the 4 bolt holes for the solenoid, on the drivers side. Most of the cases I have seen have an ID number as well as the drive ratio. However, among my spare transmission cases I have one with no numbers at all.
CORDially, Mike

According to Sid Ayres Cord 810 - 812 Transmission Manual page 5 the transmission I have is a Type 4 as it has a rectangular oil inlet hole to the pump. However there certainly is NO boss for the interlock.
In short I do not know exactly what type it is. Also after checking the case I cannot find any identification number.
I would appreciate any comments.
Attached is a picture of the case after removal from the car.
