Can you tell us what the measurement is that you speak of? I also noticed my non vented cover does not have a cutout for the tire inflater. Was this a normal idea or did you have to cut and bend your own?

the chrome cover you have in the photo is a hupcap for heavy duty wheels. The visual difference from early and late caps is the height of the crease above the vent holes. A late cap "looks "pregnant" , as compared to the earlier 1936 "vented" cap.

I took these pics today of the covers that came on the car when we purchased it in 1961 and what I purchased a few weeks ago. They both appear to be the same depth domes. It was mentioned once here that someone... Maybe Dallas Winslow made up the solid covers sometime in the 1950's area. Enjoy the pics...

Today just to tease myself I washed off the spare tire and rim I purchased about 5 years ago locally ans placed my new wheel cover on it. Kind of lights a fire under me to get busy. Enjoy the pics.
