This was an accessory that many owners added so people could identify the brand name of their car. They were offered in late 1936 as an option. Many owners had them installed. They are shown in the center of the approved accessories pamplet as "Crest Hood Ornament" with N29227 part number. There are no stupid questions but often one will get a dumb answer.

I apologize up front for asking a stupid question, but why do some Cords have an emblem on the front of the hood and others do not.
