OK, In all of my reading and conversations with Gordon ,Alex Herb and of coarse our illustrious aficionados that the factory did offer other possibilities. If buy chance you were at the New York Auto show in 35 you were given a Cord brochure with rendering of each car depicting various colors other than what was standard. We all know that EL Cord did upgrade the Auburn line when he took ownership with bright color schemes. My point about this is, if you saw red in the brochure and wanted it you got it, further documented history suggests that Sonja Henie(page 128 in TIMELESS CLASSIC by Josh Malks) request was met, with a fee of $100.00. Keep in mind this was not your run of the mill Ford or Chevy the cost was 3 times higher. You got what you wanted.
