Josh, thank you for confirming this with me. Now I can proceed with the rebuild with peace of mind. Dan

4L is closest to the firewall on the driver's side (in a Cord sold in the USA :))

engine cylinder numbering was created by danooo7
Can anyone tell me how to determine cylinder # 1R vs cylinder #4R etc.? As it sits in the car with the timing gears near the firewall and the flywheel forward, is the #4 cylinder closest to the firewall or is it the #1? I know I've read this somewhere but I can't seem to find it documented again. I need to know so I can return my piston rods to there original cylinders. I had my engine block "hot dipped" and my markings were removed with all the grease and dirt. Thanks for your help, Dan
