I am still looking for photos or a diagram / print of the later style antenna, if anyone has a car with this style antenna on it. This is the version that mounts with two U shaped brackets and has wires running back and forth between the brackets.  (Not the more-common flat antenna with three galvanized straps)

Thank you Terry! I mean't Philco! (I have a couple old Zenith radios that I have restored and that brand name just slipped out accidentally.) I have a Westchester sedan that originally came with a Philco radio and with the later style antenna (antenna mounting brackets pictured above). I am missing the nameplate on the front of the Philco radio box, and also need to fabricate the correct original-style antenna that came with car. Hence my two posts looking for these two bits of information.

Wyn in your latest posting you mentioned a Zenith Radio.
The only radios that I was aware that were used were Crosley and Philco.

No, the antennas are totally different, and mount quite differently as well. The U-shaped brackets in the photo of my initial post bolted to the underside of the car, and had wires attached on insulators. But that's all I know.

Hi Wyn,
I think the antennas were the same - I may be wrong since I have mainly worked on the earlier Cords and never really studied the antennas. Below is a photo of the antenna. The brackets you show are the brackets that hold the antenna in place. I can take photos of them on a car if you need it. The antenna is run between them with insulators and hook type fastners - sorry I think mine are buried right now. The triangular end is towards the front and the lead wire is attached with a screw and nut.
Jim

Wyn, My Cord did not come with any type of antenna under the car. I have not been under my car in probably 45 years... And thats a shame to admit. I will get there. I will be watching this post too. My 37 was made in the first or second week of January 1937 ...

Does anyone have photos, or better yet, plans for the later style antenna used with Philco radios?  I know it was mounted with brackets like the ones shown below and I assume it had wires going back and forth between the brackets, but this photo is all I have been able to get so far.  I need buy or fabricate this type of antenna but need all the measurements.
