I have a later 1937 phaeton which has the original header and all the latch backing plates are indented exactly the same as in the 1936 models.

Here is a picture of my whole assembly, latch plus brass plate. My brass plate is not inset into the header, but it is a 1937. Plate measures 5 x 1 3/4 x 1/4 inch.

Tom that is the part I have a Factory drawing of. I can try taking a photograph of the picture then uploading it to the Forum.

Here is a picture of the mounting plate installed in my top frame. If you need details or measurements I can remove it.

This is probably the brass plate referred to.

Sorry the file will not open when I attach it.

The latch is correct but there is a larger brass plate to which it attaches.

I don't have a phaeton but do have some copies of Factory drawings that were taken over by the Hupmobile Company.
Attached is a drawing of the latch which appears to be identical to yours.

Center Header Bow latch question was created by wolfpline
This is the center latch I have but it looks as if the header was cut out for a much wider base.  Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.
