Seeking information about a California Cord

I am currently in the process of rebuilding the car. I am hopeful that someone might have some information about this car's history prior to 1956.

Interesting sales description. Am curious about the 'cut down doors'. I see the fog lights, the hood air cutouts and the rear fender skirts. I too wonder where it is.

Does anyone have any knowledge of the history of the car in the following advertisement?  This advertisement was in the second issue of Road and Track magazine, May 1948.  The car was later purchased by Norman Doyle from the Empire sales lot in Burbank in 1956.
