Phantom Corsair was created by Terry Cockerell
Reading about Russ Hinez's 1938 Phantom Corsair on the internet it was claimed that the car was capable of 115 mph. Although the body is aerodynamically designed to reduce drag, the cross sectional area is much more than a standard Cord sedan as it can accommodate four people across the front seat. This increase in cross sectional area would cancel out any gains made by the aerodynamic shape. The engine used in the car was a standard 810 engine which was modified but no mention was made of what had been done to it. The weight of the Phantom Corsair is 4,563 lbs where as a Westchester is 3,715 lbs. In conclusion the quoted speed of 115 mph would  be very hard to believe unless the car was going down a long hill.
Were any road tests conducted on this amazing creation back in 1938?
