Door latch mechanism

Or is there any way to disable the locking mechanism so the catch can be moved without worrying about engaging the lock bits?

Help! If you have read my stuck door post you are somewhat aware of my situation. Now, after getting the door open and the latch mechanism out., I've found that there is something broken, sealed inside the lock/latch. The best I can tell it's not repairable, at least not by me.
So does anyone have a working latch mech for a Westchester driver side rear door that you're willing to part with? If I can't get this squared away I'll have to drive a Toyota Highlander to Auburn....which will be very sad.
