You guys must forgive me but realise I am in far off Australia and will never have the opportunity of turning up in Auburn driving my Cord.
I don't mind having the "boot" as we call it open for inspection and hope passers by don't damage the latches. A recreated jack shaft and base plate are on show but I didn't bother with the lift mechanism. I pretend it is in the tool bag.
I'm also extremely fortunate to have the original Hand Book that went with the car in 1936. It was separated when the car was sold in 1954. It turned up in Virginia with the granddaughter of the second owner. She gave it to me as well as a Salesman's Information Booklet from the dealer O'Donnell Mackie in Toronto where the car was originally sold. These can be on show within the car but in plastic sleeves for safety.
I also have an original Cord Workshop Manual purchased by the second owner and separated from the car in 1966 when George Van Nostrand sold it. George gifted it to me so that it could stay with the car as it moved into the future.
To be a real purist do I really need to get a pair of horn tags ?
Where do I put the screwdriver so that interested parties can view said tags?

I would hope so... otherwise about 50% of my restoration work would be in vain. That would be a hard thought to live with!

Morning Wyn
Even though nobody would see it---
A purist would want it!
The same goes for more obvious parts ie jack and lug wrench, etc.

Gary, I agree trying to restore a Cord certainly costs a lot of money especially with the finer details however there is one exception and that is the horn tags.
They were hidden under the end caps so we don't need to find replacements.

I have an original Auburn factory price list. I found the dash instrument light rheostat switch was being sold for .95 cents. I had the Auburn numbers so I took this to Randy Ema. After lunch that day we looked the part number up in his master parts catalogs. Turns out Auburn purchased it for .16 cents and flipped it for .95 cents. I know of one original NOS switch and the seller wants $500.00 for it....... I want it but can't justify the cost.... But its on my list of the out of this world prices like the original bumper jack at $2500.00. The jack NOBODY will ever use......
The cost of restoration costs real money.....
