You have the late type shock absorbers. As long as they don't leak and have resistance to motion then you don't worry about them. The last few I worked on, all I did was add hydraulic jack oil and they were fine.

check out this site, most seem similar in construction.

I'm have not touched a lever-action shock in five decades but I do remember filling one with fluid. It has always bothered me because I can't remember what I used, maybe brake fluid (OMG) young and dumb, or power steering fluid but they don't leak and seem to be ok, I must have used the correct hydraulic fluid, this is one place if it ain't broke don't mess with it.

no name on them. they are single action with screw caps at each end. I don't know if this helps but I have opened them up and don't see how to remove the guts. they may be Delco not sure but what I have seen on the internet that looks the closest.

Which shock absorber do you have? The earlier or later?

The shock absorbers are very basic. I have seen one apart but can't recal where or who did this. Maybe a past news letter??/ If there is a breakdown and a how to repair I'm interested in getting a copy too.

is there a service manual for the shocks on the cord. I would like to take them apart and redo the out side then put back together. may possibly send them out after I get them ready.
