It has always worked, I was going to do that just for inquisitive purposes, just to see the difference.

I can't offer any explanation. Try monitoring the temperature with a thermometer in the radiator and comparing it with the gage as she rises.

I tried it and straightened out any kinks, still much the same, possibly the fluid doesn't go all the way to the bottom and completely disappear.

Trevor sounds like you have a different problem as your gauge is in your car which you have been driving.
Mine had been out of the car for a number of years during the restoration and I had straightened out some tight bends in the line. George's car is another that has been under restoration.
Let's hear what you uncover.

I looked at mine and it reads 100 degrees when cold too. So I guess looks hotter than it really is when running. Dip the probe in a pan of boiling water ? Gonna give it a go !

Hi George after refitting the temperature gauge in "Our Cord" the red fluid was up on the scale at ambient temperature. I can't remember where I read this but the solution was to place the cylinder head probe in a container of boiling water and then leave it. The system restored itself with the red fluid eventually dropping back to the bottom of the scale.
The gauge has worked perfectly since starting the completely rebuilt engine recently.

The number plate with the stripes on it can be moved up or down but very slightly. Tomorrow morning I may be able to post up some pictures because my temp gage is apart till from restoration.

My 810 temperature gauge registers 100 degrees F when cold at 60 degrees F room temperature Has anyone re-calibrated this gauge, as Auburn did ?
It has been installed.
