My main brackets were deformed where they fit the bumper support and had to be straightened in a press. If they had been cast iron they would have cracked.
Any corroded areas can easily be built up with electric welding and hand finished.

I bit the bullet. They're heading out to Raleigh NC. I understand black was an original color. I prefer chrome but I can live with black. As for the front clamps, making up replacements will give me something to do while I'm confined after foot surgery next week.

I was given a set of lamps by a fellow Cord owner for helping with his restoration. They were missing the CORD name tags which I fitted. I felt they were not originally fitted to a Cord simply because the tags had never been fitted.

Original brackets were painted black cast iron.
Almost all Cords have chrome brackets today.
I have only seen 1 original chrome brass bracket.
I believe the narrow non-symmetrical rim with 2 hooks and screw is correct for the NOS light I posted.
After that I know nothing

1. Were the brackets originally supplied painted or chromed or both types?
2. The retaining rings on the lights I have are fitted with very small copper hooks with a screw and nut to draw them up tight. Is this type acceptable?

I would have thought the lights were as rare as the brackets.
Thanks mate,
Terry
